About The Justice Times

The Justice Times is an independent publication examining law, policy and accountability in New Zealand. It is concerned with the exercise of public power, the health of legal institutions, and the practical consequences of government and institutional decision-making.

The publication covers employment law, criminal justice, civil liberties, public law, policing, the courts, government accountability and institutional integrity. Its purpose is to explain complex legal and public issues clearly, scrutinise the exercise of power, and contribute to serious public debate.

The Justice Times is a Van Lawrence publication. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Articles are published for general information and commentary only. Readers facing a particular legal issue should obtain advice appropriate to their own circumstances.

Editorial standards

The Justice Times aims to publish commentary that is accurate, fair and open to correction. Requests for corrections, responses or other editorial enquiries may be submitted through the Contact page.

That is substantial enough to make the page look intentional, while remaining restrained and consistent with the publication brief.
